Road safety workshop, Belgrade, 15-16 October 2014
A regional road safety workshop
Belgrade, 15-16 October 2014
To help advance a global road safety agenda, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has joined forces with the Government of the Republic of Serbia (Ministry of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure (MCTI) and Road Traffic Safety Agency (RTSA)) and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC). The three partners organized a targeted, regional workshop in partnership with South-East Europe Transport Observatory (SEETO). The workshop brought together a wide range of road safety stakeholders and interested parties from the public and private sectors, including decision makers, planning authorities, and international organizations. Discussions – in English, Russian and Serbian - focused on issues such as establishment of a lead agency, developing a national strategy, setting realistic and long term targets, funding sources and data support systems for monitoring and evaluation. The primary focus of the workshop was on South-East Europe and Western Balkans, but the expected participation of experts from other UNECE countries brought additional insights about good practices and experiences from across the UNECE region.
