UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Model Regulations
Amendments to the 16th revised edition
At its sixth session (14 December 2012), the Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) adopted a set of amendments to the Model Regulations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, which were consolidated in documents ST/SG/AC.10/40/Add.1.
The eighteenth revised edition of the Recommendations takes account of all these amendments which concern, inter alia, classification of solid oxidizing substances; transport of adsorbed gases; lithium batteries (including damaged or defective lithium batteries, lithium batteries for disposal or recycling); asymmetric capacitors; discarded packagings; ammonium nitrate and radioactive material; testing of gas cartridges and fuel cell cartridges; marking of bundles of cylinders; and the applicability of ISO standards to the manufacture of new pressure receptacles or service equipment.
The Committee also adopted amendments to the "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria" (ST/SG/AC.10/40/Add.2), which are reflected in Amendment 2 to the fifth revised edition, as well as amendments to the "Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals" (ST/SG/AC.10/40/Add.3) which are reflected in the fifth revised edition published as document ST/SG/AC.10/30/Rev.5.
