Sixth session of the Team of Specialists on Innovation and Competitiveness Policies

10 - 11 October 2013

Palais des Nations, Geneva

The objectives of the sixth session were to discuss and address topical, substantive issues related to the programme of work of the Team of Specialists on Innovation and Competitiveness Policies (TOS-ICP), review the outputs and activities carried out since the fifth session, including in conjunction with other relevant thematic areas under the UNECE Committee on Economic Cooperation and Integration (CECI), review the implementation plan for the remainder of 2013, and make proposals for the programme of work in the next biennium 2014-2015.

Substantive segment:
Innovation in the public sector plays an increasingly important role in today’s world. A world where the public sector at national, regional and local level is under pressure to find new ways of delivering better public goods and services with fewer resources. But also a world where the rapid pace of innovation in many fields creates tremendous opportunities for improving the cost-effectiveness and impact of the public sector, including through new ways of cooperation with the private sector.
