Bradley Van Gosen has been a research geologist with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for more than 30 years. His primary research has been devoted to describing and understanding mineral deposits—their geology and resource potential. In recent years, Brad’s investigations have focused on deposits of rare earth elements, thorium, uranium, and industrial minerals. He has also worked extensively on the geology and distribution of natural occurrences of asbestos in the United States, providing insights that can be used to limit human exposures to asbestos.
Brad serves as a United States delegate and Vice Chair for the UNECE Expert Group on Resource Classification. He is the United States member of a collaborative uranium-thorium working group of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
