David Elliott

David C. Elliott, Ph.D., F.G.S., P.Geol, has spent 46 years in the petroleum industry.  He started his career working on offshore drilling rigs, worked in technical and management roles, in oil and gas field development, and evaluation, in several countries and recently retired as the Chief Petroleum Advisor for the Alberta Securities Commission, which is responsible for the regulation of oil and gas securities in Canada. 

He has served on industry committees charged with writing guidelines for the evaluation of oil and gas resources, in particular, the Canadian Oil and Gas Evaluation Handbook (COGEH) and also served as a Vice Chair of the UNECE Expert Group on Resource Classification.  Professional society memberships include the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers, Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Geological Society of London.
