The United States Forest Service, the National Association of State Foresters and State of Florida in cooperation with international organizations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section, are organizing a workshop on “Streamlining forest based reporting”, which will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, on 20-23 August 2012.
The workshop will bring together experts, representing national and international reporting processes, to share information and exchange ideas on current and possible future reporting processes for criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management. The conference intends to shed some light on commonalities, and to promote opportunities for synergies and cooperation amongst reporting processes. Parallel working sessions will develop recommendations on how to treat sets of information with a view to increase efficiency and enhance consistency among regional reporting processes. This should facilitate the development of different regional reports, and contribute to the 2015 Global Forest Resource Assessment. More information about the programme, the conference and registration can be found at:
We would like to encourage experts on forest monitoring and reporting in the UNECE/FAO region to participate in the event. Please do not hesitate to contact the organizers or UNECE/FAO (email@example.com) should you need more information.
