The sixth meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on ESD took place in Geneva from 7 to 8 April 2011. The Steering Committee’s sixth meeting is expected to consider the progress and challenges in implementing phase II of the Strategy and to discuss and adopt the work plan for phase III (2011 – 2015). Furthermore, the Steering Committee is expected to address how to promote the UNECE ESD process at the Seventh “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference in Astana and to identify interlinkages of ESD with the key themes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012.

All delegates attending the Steering Committee meeting are requested to complete the registration form and to transmit it to the UNECE secretariat preferably before 7 March 2011 and no later than 21 March 2011 by e-mail (esd@unece.org). On their way to the meeting, delegates should obtain an identification badge at the Pass and Identification Unit of the United Nations Office at Geneva’s Security and Safety Section, located at the Pregny Gate, 14, Avenue de la Paix (see map).
