In December 2005, the Economic Commission for Europe adopted the Work Plan on ECE Reform (E/ECE/1434/rev.1), which recommended to discontinue the sub-programme on Industrial Restructuring and Enterprise Development as well as the related inter-governmental structures (paragraph 68). During the same session, the ECE established a new sub-programme on Economic Co-operation and Integration, which will become operational during 2006. A new Committee on Economic Cooperation and Integration, which will be an implementing body for the new sub-programme, is planned to hold its first meeting in the autumn of 2006.
