Regional
Implementation Forum on Sustainable Development
with
Focus on Energy
UNECE, Palais des
Nations, Geneva, 15-16 December 2005
At its eleventh session, the
Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) decided
that its multi-year programme of work beyond 2003
would be organized on the basis of two-year
implementation cycles, with each cycle focusing on
selected thematic clusters of issues.
During its second two-year cycle
(2006-2007), the Commission on Sustainable Development
will focus on the theme Energy for Sustainable
Development and the inter-linkages with industrial
development and air pollution/atmosphere and climate
change.
At its fourteenth session (CSD-14),
scheduled to be held in New York, 1-12 May 2006, the
Commission will review the progress achieved in the
implementation in these thematic areas. UNECE decided
to hold its second Regional Implementation Forum to
provide substantial inputs for the review year and to
contribute to CSD-14. This Forum will be held at the
Palais des Nations on 15-16 December 2005.
A copy of the Agenda for the Forum and
the background paper prepared by UNECE are appended
