UNECE Ideas for Change Award

Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals

2015, the year of the 70th anniversary of the UN, is key milestone for the world. UN Member States will adopt an ambitious and action-oriented Post-2015 Development Agenda with sustainable development goals, in New York in September.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is on the front line to give its contribution.

On 14 April 2015, UNECE hosted the first time ever startups’ event at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

The event show-cased how innovative entrepreneurial talent can contribute to address today’s social and environmental challenges, through new groundbreaking ideas that can become successful business.

The competition featured the participation of 150 ideas from 25 countries of the UNECE region. Among these, six were selected as finalists. They were invited to Geneva to pitch their projects in front of a Jury  of international experts representing the world of business, policy making and academia. 


The Six Finalists are AEInnova, Breezometer, Pnat - Jellyfish Barge, Improved Photovoltaic System -PVT, MEGA, Orange Fiber  

The Jury

The international jury is composed by highly-recognized experts coming from different backgrounds, including business, academia and policy making.
