According to the survey, inefficient use of energy in the housing sector, increased problems of housing affordability due to financial and economic crisis, increased damages from climate changes to housing and human settlements, non-efficient use of urban land, low political attention to housing and urban management issues – are some of the major challenges faced by member States in the areas of housing, urban planning and land management.
The survey report shows also that member States have been devoted in developing policies and implementing UNECE guidelines in respective areas and they are committed to undertake further actions for making housing and urban planning sectors more socially equitable, economically sound and environmentally sustainable.
