There are shared housing and land management challenges in all UNECE member countries such as old, non-ecologically sustainable buildings, a lack of access to housing, and changes in property rights.
The Committee on Housing and Land Management facilitates a dialogue between governments for sharing innovative practice, giving advice and developing policy guidelines to address common housing and land management problems.
The UNECE Housing and Land Management Unit and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia organized the National workshop on Energy Efficient Housing in Georgia, which took place in Tblisi on 19 September 2013 back to back with the Fourth International Forum: Energy for Sutainable Development (17-19 September 2013).

The Committee on Housing and Land Management met to finalize the preparation of the UNECE Strategy on Sustainable Housing and Land Management for 2014-2020. The document aims to guide the future work of the Committee and will be presented for adoption at the Ministerial Meeting on 8 October 2013.
