Country profiles on the housing sector

Republic of Moldova

The project started upon the decision of the UNECE Committee on Human Settlements in September 2000. The Governments of Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Romania, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom made national experts available for the task. The project expenses were covered by extrabudgetary funds, which had been provided by the Netherlands. The Governments of Denmark and the United Kingdom financed their experts' participation as their contribution in kind. The successful conclusion of the project would not have been possible without this generous support.

The preparatory mission to the Republic of Moldova took place in March 2001. The research mission of the international team of experts was undertaken in April 2001. Moldovan experts responded to the queries and requests of the international team during and after the mission.

The results of this study will be discussed at the 63rd annual session of the UNECE Committee on Human Settlements in September 2002.
