The work of UNECE on the transport of perishable foodstuffs goes back to 1948 when, with the food shortages after the Second World War, it was decided to set up a Working Party to look into the nature and extent of international traffic in perishable foodstuffs, to ascertain operating difficulties and to study transport requirements for subsequent years

Amendments to Annex 1 of the ATP adopted by WP.11 at its 67th session in 2011, including those on on multi-compartment multi-temperature equipment, were considered accepted on 23 March 2013 and will enter into force on 23 September 2013 (see C.N.203.2013.TREATIES-XI.B.22).

21 December 2012
Turkey acceded to the ATP, becoming the 48th Contracting Party to the Agreement. In accordance with Article 11 (2), the ATP will enter into force for Turkey on 21 December 2013
(see C.N.734.2012.TREATIES-XI.B.22).

11 November 2012
Amendments to the ATP adopted by WP.11 at its 66th session in 2010 entered into force (see the updated text).

22 October 2012
Kyrgyzstan acceded to the ATP, becoming the 47th Contracting Party to the Agreement. In accordance with Article 11 (2), the ATP will enter into force for Kyrgyzstan on 22 October 2013
(see C.N.601.2012.TREATIES-3).
