About Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30)

 

UNECE guides the process of harmonizing and simplifying border crossing procedures for the various modes of inland transport.

The Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30) is an inter-governmental forum dealing with activities of a policy, legal, administrative, documentary, technical, economic and environmental nature. In particular, the Working Party prepares, reviews, modifies and administers a large number of United Nations conventions and agreements in the field of border crossing facilitation, such as:

  • Convention concerning Customs Facilities for Touring
  • Additional Protocol to the Convention concerning Customs Facilities for Touring, relating to the importation of tourist publicity documents and material
  • Customs Convention on the Temporary Importation of Private Road Vehicles
  • Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention), of 1959
  • Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention), of 1975
  • Customs Convention on the Temporary Importation for Private Use of Aircraft and Pleasure Boats
  • Customs Convention on the Temporary Importation of Commercial Road Vehicles
  • International Convention to Facilitate the Crossing of Frontiers for Passengers and Baggage carried by Rail
  • International Convention to Facilitate the Crossing of Frontiers for Goods Carried by Rail
  • Customs Convention concerning Spare Parts Used for Repairing Europ Wagons
  • Customs Convention on Containers, of 1956
  • Customs Convention on Containers, of 1972
  • European Convention on Customs Treatment of Pallets Used in International
  • International Convention on the Harmonization of Frontier Controls of Goods
  • Convention on Customs Treatment of Pool Containers Used in International Transport

The Working Party also contributes to combating fiscal fraud through simplified customs and other border crossing procedures. It works closely with member State Governments, other inter-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations and the business community to provide the best possible foundations for efficicent customs procedures affecting transport.
