Advancing climate change and environmental statistics and indicators

UNECE produced the first ever Recommendations on Climate Change-Related Statistics, providing the basis for effective decision-making for climate action. UNECE’s Expert Forum on Climate Change Statistics provides a key international platform to support this work.

The UNECE set of environmental indicators is being aligned more closely with SDG indicators within the UNECE Joint Task Force on Environmental Statistics and Indicators. The Joint Task Force is serviced by the UNECE Environmental and Statistical Divisions and provides a central hub for building capacity and fostering discussion among countries of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and South-Eastern Europe on indicators ranging from air pollution, climate change, water, biodiversity, land and soil to agriculture, energy, transport and waste (for which UNECE has a dedicated Task Force on Waste Statistics).
