United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in collaboration with the UN SG’s Special Envoy for Road Safety will be organizing a Round Table on Road Safety followed by a Special Lunch to mark the beginning of the Fourth United Nations Global Road Safety Week (8-14 May 2017).

The representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations are invited to participate at the Round table, which will take place from 10.00 to 12.00 on Monday, 8 May 2017 in Salle XI and followed by Lunch at 12:15 at the 8th Delegates Restaurant at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. The Round Table and Lunch keynote speakers will discuss the challenges faced worldwide in road safety, showcase the critical role which the United Nations road safety conventions play in building good governance, consider road safety governance of tomorrow and launch SafeFITS. The event will further feature signing a poster “With United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety and UNECE on the road to good governance for road safety”.

The UNECE and the UN SG's Special Envoy for Road Safety are cooperating to host this event as we strongly believe that much better progress in road safety can be achieved when national systems for road safety are developed on solid provisions contained in the United Nations road safety conventions.
