Cooperation with other international organizations and programmes

Organization for the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

 

The Organization for the Economic Cooperation and Development is the focal point for the development of harmonized health and environmental hazard criteria.

 

 

 

 

 

United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)/International Labour Office (ILO)

 

UNITAR and ILO are the focal points for GHS capacity building activities.

In 2001, both organizations initiated a Global GHS Capacity Building Programme (UNITAR/ILO Global GHS Capacity Building Programme), in response to growing requests from countries for capacity building to support GHS implementation. The UNITAR/ILO programme provides guidance documents, educational, awareness-raising, resource and training materials regarding the GHS.

UNITAR, ILO and OECD also launched a Global Partnership for capacity building to implement the GHS (UNITAR/ILO/OECD Global Partnership for Capacity Building to Implement the GHS) with the aim to strengthen capacities at all levels and sectors (particularly in developing countries).

 

 

Other organizations

 

For the activities regarding pesticide management, prevention and treatment of poisoning, transport of dangerous goods and environmental issues related to the GHS and carried out by other international organizations or programmes such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO) or the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)/Basel Convention, see information on GHS implementation
