Code Mark Registry

The UNECE Code Mark Registry contains information on code marks officially recognized by national authorities for fresh fruit and vegetable exports. It includes the contact information of the relevant national authorities as well as explanations on the structure of the code marks and photos.
The secretariat is not liable for information provided by the national authorities. Countries are encouraged to contact the secretariat for updates as well as additional entries.

This registry is listing information provided by those countries officially issuing or recognizing a code allowed to replace the indication of name and physical address of the packer and/or dispatcher/exporter as requested by the UNECE marketing standards for fresh fruit and vegetables as well as for dry and dried produce.

Inspection services that use this Code Mark Registry as a guide for inspecting packages proceed as follows:

In general, they will accept Code Marks to replace the name and address of packer and/or dispatcher/exporter if:

  • the code is preceded with the reference “packer and/or dispatcher (or equivalent abbreviations)”, and
  • the code is preceded with the ISO 3166 (alpha-2) country code of the recognizing country, if not the country of origin, and
  • the delivering country is listed in this Code Mark Registry.

In case the marked code differs slightly (e.g. only slightly in length) from the structure notified in the Code Mark Registry, the lot is accepted. However, the issuing / recognizing authority will be contacted. If the corresponding code or the structure is not confirmed, subsequently arriving lots with corresponding marking deficiencies will be rejected.

In case the marked code differs strongly from a given character string the respective lot is rejected.
