Process-oriented approach to statistical production

Review paper by UNECE

In-depth review of Process-oriented approach to statistical production
The CES Bureau carried out an in-depth review of the process-oriented approach to statistical production in February 2015. The Bureau noted that moving to a process-based structure in a statistical office can generate efficiency savings and ensure greater coherence between outputs, and provide a more sustainable approach to information technology management. The Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM), developed by the UNECE High-Level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics (HLG-MOS), provides a good framework for a process-based organizational structure.
Outcome of the review
The CES Bureau asked the HLG-MOS to organize a high-level seminar on the process-oriented approach to statistical production. A UNECE High-level Seminar on the Process-oriented Approach to Statistical Production on 19-21 April 2017 is dedicated to sharing experience and discussing the way forward.

Related initiatives

The current international initiatives are mainly focusing on standardization of statistical production rather than organization of the statistical work.
