|European Forest Week 2013 - The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have announced a second European Forest Week which will be held from 9-13 December 2013, in parallel to Metsä2013 – the joint session of the ECE Timber Committee and the FAO European Forestry Commission – to take place in Rovaniemi, Finland. The European Forest Week will be celebrated with events in Rovaniemi and throughout Europe. Read more|
|International Day of Forests - The United Nations General Assembly Second Committee has passed a draft resolution to designate 21 March each year as International Day of Forests, encouraging all Member States to organize forest-related activities. In this context and to highlight the contribution of forestry to our society, the UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section together with Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations and with the United Nations Office in Geneva, is organizing a Library Talk on ‘The contribution of forests to sustainability and development”. National Forest Policy Dialogues
The objective of National Forest Policy Dialogues (NFPDs) is to exchange knowledge on recent forest policy issues or development. National perspectives are provided by national experts and international perspectives by staff of the UNECE/FAO Section.
In this framework, the UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section already facilitated the organization of three NFPDs.

Forest Products Market Forecast, 2012-2013 - UNECE Timber Committee, at its October 2012 meeting, approved a market statement, based on forecasts of production and trade for over 20 products covering 30 countries. Countries also provided national market statements, describing in detail forest products market activities and outlook. Read more
Forest Products Prices - The UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section provides two different kinds of price information. These data (currently 60 series) are updated on a regular basis using publicly available information source. Read more

On December 13th 2012, to mark the longlasting partnership between UNECE and FAO on forestry and the forest sector related activities, notably through the Joint ECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section, Mr. Sven Alkalaj, Executive Secretary, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and Mr. José Graziano da Silva, Director-General, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), have signed a Partnership Agreement on December 13th, 2012.
