Overview

Implementation of the UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents takes many forms. Parties have an obligation to report on implementation of the Convention (Article 23), and the Conference of the Parties is required to review the state of implementation (Article 18). The Convention’s governing bodies and the secretariat oversee these reporting and review processes. This oversight allows them to identify strengths and weaknesses in the implementation of the Convention and subsequently develop guidelines for improvement. Accordingly, this section of the UNECE website provides compilations of good practices and a set of guidelines and templates developed to support countries in strengthening their implementation of the Convention.
