This publication presents eight case studies (Finland, France, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United States of America) on long-term historical changes in the forest resource, quantifying trends to the extent possible and identifying factors underlying decreases and increases in forest area, as well as other changes to the forest resource.
