The tenth jubilee session of the UNECE Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6) commemorated the thirtieth anniversary of the beginning of UN/ECE activities related to standardization policies and technical harmonization matters (the first Meeting of Government Officials Responsible for Standardization was held in January 1970). It took place from 6 to 8 November 2000 and included the following event:
- International Workshop on the Role of International Standards and Technical Regulations in International Trade.
The main achievement from the session were:
- Agreement on how to finalize the fifth revised version of the Standardization List
- Decision to continue the work of the ad hoc team of specialists on STandardization And Regulatory Techniques (START Team) on an “International Model for technical harmonization based on good regulatory practice for the preparation, adoption and application of technical regulations via the use of international standards".
