Mario Apostolov currently works at the UN Economic Commission for Europe as Regional Adviser, assisting economies in transition in their transition to a market economy and integration in the world and EU economy. More specifically, he manages technical assistance projects in trade facilitation and e-business, notably in Central Asia, the Caucasus, South-eastern Europe, Russia, and Ukraine. He organizes international conferences on trade facilitation, Single Window, data harmonization and the information society, and advises governments on these issues. He has worked as Coordinator of UN ministerial trade forums; he has many publications and experience in journalism. Mr. Apostolov has a PhD from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. He has carried out a post-doctoral project in international security in the Balkans and the Middle East, and has been visiting scholar at Columbia University. He has publications in international trade and cultural and religious issues in international security.
Ms. Lorenza Jachia, Secretary of the UNECE Working Party on «Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies », holds a Bachelor degree from Bocconi University (Milan), and a Masters Degree from the Graduate Institute for International Studies (Geneva). Lorenza has been working in the UN for 15 years, first in UNCTAD and since 2002 in the UNECE. Her main areas of expertise are international trade, economic integration, standardization and regulatory cooperation. She authored, edited and contributed to a number of publications and research papers on these topics. Among the most recent are “A Common Language for Trade and Development”, UN 2010 and “Application of Risk-based Management System Standards to the Design of Regulatory Systems” EURAS, 2010.
Mr. Rajan Dhanjee holds legal qualifications from London and Geneva (Bachelor of Laws, Barrister-at-Law, Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures en Relations Internationales). He is the Secretary to UN/CEFACT, an intergovernmental body of UNECE dealing with trade facilitation and electronic business. Rajan started off his career in the Department of Legal Affairs in the Government of Seychelles in 1976 prior to joining UNCTAD in Geneva in 1982, working on various trade, competition, technology and intellectual property issues and transferred to the UNECE secretariat a year ago.
Mr. Hans A. Hansell, Chief , Trade Policy and Governmental Cooperation Section of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)
Hans Armfelt HANSELL, a Swedish economist, is Chief of the Trade Policy and Governmental Cooperation Section of the Trade and Timber Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. In this capacity he is also overseeing the work of the Agricultural Standards Unit. Mr. Hansell joined the United Nations in 1992 after almost 20 years of professional experience in trade, trade promotion and export development. He previously was the Executive Director of the Swedish Trade Procedures Council (SWEPRO) for eight years, served as advisor to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and worked as Business Director for Swedish companies for several years. Dr. Hansell holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and he has written numerous articles on business, organizational and transport issues. He has been a frequent lecturer at universities and conferences on factors for economic development, business, organizational and transport. |
