Guidance on Notification according to the Espoo Convention, December 2009

The report is available in PDF (0.5 MB, 64 pages) ENG/FRE/RUS languages.

Notification is the formal and mandatory start of the procedure for the application of the Convention. The Convention requires the Party of origin to notify the affected Party as early as possible about a proposed activity that is likely to have a significant adverse transboundary impact.

This guidance brings together information to assist Parties in the notification procedure set out in the Convention, providing practical advice, including on public participation, and presenting a format for notification.
