ADDRESSING THE CHALLENGES OF FINANCING INNOVATIVE ENTERPRISES
Meeting of Experts on Financing for Innovative Development
Geneva, 3-4 May 2007
Geneva, 1 May 2007 -- How can innovative enterprises finance
their future growth? How to facilitate the flow of venture capital and
other funds to innovative business? What role can the public sector play
in improving the access to finance for innovative enterprises? How national
development banks and other public financial institutions can foster innovation?
These are some of the issues that will be addressed and discussed at the
Meeting of Experts on Financing for Innovative Development on 3-4 May in
Geneva.
This Meeting of Experts is organized in cooperation with the UN Department
of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and is part of the Programme of Work
of the UNECE Committee on Economic Cooperation and Integration. The meeting
will provide a forum to facilitate the identification of good practices leading
to policy recommendations concerning the financing of innovative enterprises.
These outcomes will be broadly disseminated in the UNECE region, providing
the basis for future capacity-building and technical assistance activities
in response to demands by member States.
Public sector experts with responsibilities in the area of enterprise financing,
representatives from a large number of business angels and venture capital
associations as well as from multilateral financial institutions and development
banks will participate in this meeting.
