Pressing urban challenges of today

UNECE Ministerial Meeting in Geneva

Geneva, 12 September 2006 -- Last year a number of countries experienced protest and unrest by residents of distressed urban districts. Ministers will discuss the urban housing challenges that many countries are facing today, as well as policy approaches for tackling these challenges. The panel will focus on social and economic integration through human settlements development policies and the management of the multi-family housing sector. The meeting is expected to adopt a ministerial declaration.
