Invitation to the Fifth Meeting of the International PRTR Coordinating Group
Dear Sir/Madam,
You are cordially invited to attend the fifth meeting of the International Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers Coordinating Group, 18 May 2010, in Paris, France, immediately before the OECD PRTR Task Force meeting that will take place in Paris on 19-21 May 2010. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has kindly offered to host the meeting.
Purpose: The overall objective of the International PRTR Coordinating Group is to improve coordination between international organizations, governments and other interested parties on their ongoing and planned efforts related to the further development and implementation of PRTR systems in developing countries or countries with economies in transition. Among other topics, the fifth meeting is expected to discuss the implementation of action items identified at the fourth meeting, the outcome of the special session on 22 April 2010, the outcome of the first session of the Meeting of the Parties to the PRTR Protocol to the Aarhus Convention, the relevant items on the agenda of the upcoming OECD PRTR Task Force, ongoing and planned support activities in countries in transition and at a global level also in co-operation with multilateral environmental agreements and existing or planned initiatives at governmental and global level.
Practical arrangements: The meeting will take place on 18 May 2010 from 14:00 to 18:00 in Room 18 (called “CC18”) at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Conference Centre, 2, rue André Pascal, Paris 16eme, France (Tel: 33 (0)1 45 24 82 00). Please note that given a conflicting schedule of the meeting with the first PreCom for the Rio plus 20 Summit, Achim Halpaap (UNITAR) is not able to attend the meeting and sends his apologies. Craig Boljkovac (UNITAR) has kindly agreed to replace Achim Halpaap to chair the meeting.
