The project on Coal Mine Methane was launched in fall 2005 by the Sustainable Energy Division and it was successfully closed in September 2008.

The objective of the project was to raise the awareness of the benefits that coal mine methane has in economic, social and environmental terms and to encourage development of coal mine methane projects in Central and Eastern European and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
