ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

SPRING SEMINARS

EAD had a Spring Seminar which took place once a year and provided an important forum for policy debate on a selected topic of interest to economic policymaking in the ECE region. International and regional experts and academics were invited to make presentations on the given topic. These were then debated by designated expert discussants and by other seminar participants from across the region. Each Seminar concluded with a set of policy implications and recommendations which were typically debated in the subsequent UNECE Annual Sessions.

Financing for Development in the ECE Region (2005)
The 2005 Spring Seminar, held on February 21 2005, focused on Financing for Development in the ECE Region - Promoting Growth in Low-income Transition Economies. It discussed the roles of FDI, of the domestic financial sector, of trade, and of natural resource endowments and their management for economic development, particularly in Southeast Europe, Russia and the Caspian region.
