GE.97- DOCUMENTARY CREDIT APPLICATION Definitions 460. Documentary Credit Application is the document whereby a bank is requested to issue a documentary credit on the conditions specified therein (see document TRADE/WP4/INF84/10.11.82). In the UN/EDIFACT environment, it relates to the Documentary Credit Application message (DOCAPP), a message from a party requesting the issuance of a documentary credit to the financial party providing such service. In this message the conditions under which the sender of the message requires the documentary credit to be issued are given . Data fields in the proposal for an aligned form for Documentary Credit Application . The headings and the number of the data fields appearing in the enclosed form of Documentary credit application are listed below. The remarks are intended to describe the nature of the information to be entered in the data fields. Under each field are enumerated the corresponding UNTDED data elements. Field 1. Name of issuing bank Normally the buyer s own bank, issues the credit on the instruction of the buyer. Applicant Full name and address of the buyer of the goods to which the credit refers and indication of who to contact. Advising / confirming bank Name and address of advising bank (normally seller s bank). In case of request of credit confirmation the name and the address of confirming bank has to be indicated. The credit available with the bank To state the bank when the credit is domiciliated and to indicate with an X if the credit is irrevocable or revocable transferable with payment by sight, acceptance or by negotiation by deferred payment after a number of days, and beneficiary bill of exchange at sight, drawn on (issuing bank) for % of invoice value. Documents to be presented To indicate with X (and add other necessary) which documents are to be presented for payment under documentary credit.
