Since the March 1997 session of GE.1 the Standards Liaison Rapporteur attended one ISO meetings. The detailed report is in TRADE/CEFACT/CRP.8. ISO/IEC JTC1/SC30/WG1, Helsinki, Finland, April 7-11, 1997 2. The SC30 (Open-EDI) work group responsible for producing the formal specification for Scenarios met for the third time in Helsinki Finland. 3. The Standards Liaison Rapporteur, in regard to the framework and Objected Oriented Technology, submitted a as contribution the AC.1 "Catalog Order scenario" detailed in AC.1's contribution of the Reference Guide - The Next Generation of UN/EDIFACT (Revision 4). 4. In summary, one important outcome of the meeting was that the "Catalog Order" scenario was chosen by WG1 as the first scenario example to be specified, and to serve as a baseline for any other scenario examples that might be included later. 5. Furthermore, the IDEF models related to this example were accepted as an application of a formal description technique and were included as Appendix A of N061 (Internal WG1 reference document). The AC.1 Reference Guide will also be included as a reference. Issues addressed by SLT 6. In light of the fact that CEFACT is now operational, and soon various empowered working groups will be approved, SLT concluded that it will not ask for its own empowerment. SLT feels that under the direction of R.680 each empowered working group will manage their own external liaison activities. However, in order to ensure coordination among these various groups, as well as allow CEFACT as an organization to establish and maintain liaison with other International Standards organization, SLT suggests that either the CEFACT Steering Group (CSG) under take this management function or that CEFACT appoint a Rapporteur. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
