The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is exploring the possibility of setting-up on a pilot basis in Mauritius the United Nations electronic Trade Documents system for the electronic submission of trade documents such as commercial invoices, sea way bills and certificates of origin.

 
-28 August 2003: UNeDocs releases first prototype for automated validation of electronic trade documents .
The service demonstrates how the integration of Web Services in electronic trade documents can enrich the document and deliver new services to the trade community. The Web Service validates an electronic trade document on the Internet against a set of user defined business rules. The automated validation of the document and it's data increases security in the supply chain, reduces the documentary risks for traders and government authorities and minimises delays caused by manual procedures and errors. -23 May 2003: UNeDocs released the upgraded version of codelist web services
UNeDocs makes available Version 0.2 of its Web Services for digital Trade Documents. The Web Service has improved support of UN Recommended code list for Trade Data. Supported functionality now includes new features such as search by code and search by code name. New is also the support of United Nations Codes for Trade and Transport (UN/LOCODE) as Web Service. -16 May 2003: UNeDocs organized a seminar on electronic trade documents during the United Nations Forum on Trade Facilitation.
The Forum welcomed the efforts of the UNECE to develop and implement accessible tools and solutions for administrations and the trade community around the world.  (click on the left menu)
 
-5 March 2003: UNeDocs expanding its web services for XML Code Lists for trade data.
The UNeDocs project expands the number of code lists in electronic format. UNeDocs now also provides webservices for "Mode of Transport", and "Incoterm Codes". The number of other trade code list repository in XML/XSD formats can be also found here.
 
-6 January 2003: UNeDocs DigitalDocument Web Services released.
UNeDocs releases a trial version of UNeDocs DigitalDocument Web Services . The Web Services are accessible from a standard PC with no additional software required. The Web Services provides documentary functionality to electronic trade documents that reside on the user PC. UNeDocs DigitalDocument Web Services provides document transformation into paper(aligned to UNLK), translation and fast delivery by email and also document transformation into HTML format
 
-11th November 2002: UNeDocs Web Services for Code Lists now available.
UNeDocs released the first version of the UNECE Code Lists for International Trade accessible through Internet based Web Services. UNeDocs Web Services provides traders and administrators worldwide with latest and reliable codes for trade data. The Code Lists for the Web Services are centrally managed on the UN server. The Web Services will thus eliminate the need of local maintenance and update of Code Lists. The facilitated access will promote the use of codes and help to increase efficiency and security of supply chain operations. UNeDocs provides this service currently for test and evaluation. -14 October 2002:UNeDocs publishes Code Lists for International Trade in XML format. The use of encoded  trade data based on recognized international code sets simplifies trade procedures and reduces the risks associated wit International Trade. The United Nations formally recommends the use of Code Lists to trade and Governments. UneDocs now provides these code lists in XML format.

The integration of Code Lists into electronic trade documents provides significant benefits to users. The combination of XML technology, electronic trade documents and international Code Lists in XML format, allows traders and administrators to automate documentary procedures and to reduce risks through the use of technology. UneDocs Code List Integration Guidelines provides a tutorial on how to integrate the Code Lists in XML Schemas.

 
-18 September: Code List Tutorial now available. UNeDocs tutorial on the use of code lists in XML trade documents.
The use of codes for trade data increases the quality of data exchanged by trading parties and significantly reduces costs and risks associated with international trade document exchange. The tutorial explains in a practical example how United Nations code lists for trade data can be referenced from a UNeDocs XML trade document or any other XML trade document.

 
-17th July:   Country and currency code list in XML format now available on the Internet. The use of encoded trade data based on recognized international code sets simplifies trade procedures and reduces risks. The United Nations recommends the use of ISO 3166 two digit country codes to represent the names of countries and ISO 4217 three digit codes for currencies (UN CEFACT Recommendation No 3 and 9). In the framework of the UNeDocs project the UNECE provides now this code list in XML format on the Internet. This is an important practical step for the integration of international code sets for trade data into XML trade documents.

- UNeDocs Toolkit for Trade Facilitators now released.

UNeDocs now makes available the first release of a toolkit for the design of aligned trade documents. The toolkit contains the relevant recommendations for the design of trade documents, guidelines for implements, the ISO reference database for the semantic document content definition and document templates in electronic format. The toolkit is designed for Trade Facilitators and software designers world wide that develop trade document layouts on a professional basis
