In June 2011, the International Union of Railways (UIC) has created a working group to revise its leaflets relating to combined transport. The Group consists of experts of DB, Infrabel, ÖBB, SBB, SNCB, SNCF, Trenitalia and UIRR. Work is currently under way to amend the following UIC leaflets:
|Leaflet 571-4||Standard wagons - Wagons for combined transport - Characteristics|
|Leaflet 591||Roller units for horizontal transshipment - Technical conditions governing their use in international traffic|
|Leaflet 592||Intermodal Transport Units (other than semi-trailers) for vertical transshipment and suitable for carriage on wagons - Minimum requirements|
|Leaflet 596-5||Transport of road vehicles on wagons - Technical organization - Conveyance of semi-trailers with P coding or N coding on recess wagons|
|Leaflet 596-6||Conveyance of road vehicles on wagons - Technical organization - Conditions for coding combined-transport load units and combined-transport lines|
In addition, the transposition of European standard EN 13044 providing the basis for the recently launched owner-code for the identification of European intermodal loading units (ILU-Code) (refer to paras. 16-17 of the 2011 WP.24 report) is under consideration. The objective is to finalize this work by the end of 2012 allowing the revised UIC leaflets to come into force in January 2013.
