23rd session

The Informal Ad hoc Expert Group on Conceptual and Technical Aspects of Computerization of the TIR Procedure (further referred to as “the Expert Group”) held its twenty-third session on 20 and 21 November 2013 in Brussels, at the kind invitation of the European Commission.
The session was attended by experts from Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Experts representing the European Commission (EC) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) also attended the session.
GE.1 welcomed version 4.0a of the eTIR Reference Model and the new version of the XML schemas. It noted that messages are now all aligned to the WCO data model and agreed the secretariat should include tables cross referencing the description of all messages with the XML tags used in XML schemas. While acknowledging it had, to a large extend, completed its mandate, GE.1 also discussed the last remaining steps ahead of it, including a possible need to revise some aspects related to eTIR electronic declarations.
