Time-use surveys

Review paper by Germany

In-depth review on time-use surveys

The Bureau reviewed time-use surveys in November 2010, and noted the increasing demand for time-use surveys as a follow-up to the Stiglitz Commission report and the importance of these surveys to measure the quality of life, well-being, non-market work, gender equality, etc. Insufficient harmonisation reduces the value of this complicated survey.

Outcome of the review

The Bureau set up a Task Force on time-use surveys. In October 2013, the CES Bureau approved the "Guidelines for Harmonizing Time-Use Surveys" reflecting discussions at the Conference in 2013.
