Welcome

The Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference took place in Batumi, Georgia, from 8 to 10 June 2016. The Conference addressed two themes: "Greening the economy in the pan-European region"; and "Improving air quality for a better environment and human health". In addition, a segment on education for sustainable development was organized during the Conference.
The Conference was organized based on the provisions of the Environment for Europe Reform Plan, adopted in 2009 (En / Fr / Ru), and in accordance with the procedures for the Batumi Ministerial Conference, adopted in 2014 (En / Fr / Ru). The main outcomes of the Conference include: the Batumi Ministerial Declaration (En / Fr / Ru); the Pan-European Strategic Framework on Greening the Economy (En / Fr / Ru) and its Batumi Initiative on Green Economy (BIG-E); the Batumi Action on Cleaner Air (BACA); the Batumi Ministerial Statement on Education for Sustainable Development (En / Fr / Ru) and the Framework for the future implementation of the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development (En / Fr / Ru).
