Executive Body

The Executive Body is the governing body of the Convention and is composed of representatives of Parties to the Convention – governments of countries that have accepted, ratified or acceded to it. Pursuant to Article 10 of the Convention, the Executive Body shall review the implementation of the Convention. It may establish, as appropriate, working groups to consider matters related to the implementation and development of the Convention and to this end to prepare appropriate studies and other documentation and to submit recommendations to be considered by the Executive Body. It agrees a biannual workplan and approves financial issues related to workplan activities.
 
The Executive Body meets annually. Its meetings are governed by the rules of procedure.
