The Steering Committee of the UNECE Strategy for ESD will hold its eighth session on 21 and 22 March 2013.
The session is expected to comprise two segments: (a) the general meeting of the Steering Committee for Education for Sustainable Development; and (b) a joint segment with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The general meeting of the Steering Committee for Education for Sustainable Development will focus on the progress made and the experiences of countries in implementing the Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development since the seventh meeting, in particular with regard to advancing the three priority action areas. The Steering Committee is moreover expected to consider activities to be implemented until the ninth Steering Committee meeting, as well as how to promote ESD on the regional level after the third phase of implementation.
The regional consultations jointly organized with UNESCO will address the final assessment of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005–2014) and its follow-up.
Please note: Following the proposal of Steering Committee members, the new deadline for submitting country reports to the secretariat (esd @ unece.org) is 10 March 2013.
