Industrial Accidents


Industrial accidents can have severe consequences on human health and the environment, including in other affected countries. The accidents in Schweizerhalle, Switzerland, and Baia Mare, Romania, have brought this message home.  The Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents helps Parties to prevent industrial accidents that can have transboundary effects and to prepare for, and respond to, accidents if they occur. In focus

Within the Framework of its flagship Project on strengthening industrial safety in Centra Asia, the Industrial Accidents Convention secretariat is organizing a subregional workshop on industrial safety and transboundary cooperation on 25-26 September in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The workshop will showcase progress made by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistran and Uzbekistan on the implementation of the Strategic Approach Under the Convention and determine ways for increased implementation of the Convention and enhanced regional cooperation in the area of prevention, preparedness and response to industrial accidents.
