Category II
These documents are reports on implementation and compliance and other background documents, prepared by the secretariat or subsidiary bodies of the Convention (informational and analytical documents of direct relevance to the agenda that will provide a basis for discussion). These documents will be translated where feasible, reproduced and distributed by the Conference Service of UNOG prior to the meeting.
As a general rule, neither the secretariat nor the host country will undertake to make available at the meeting copies of those Category II documents that have not been prepared specially for the Meeting of the Parties and that have already been distributed by Conference Services during the intersessional period. Delegates are therefore responsible for bringing their own copies of such documents.

Category III
These documents are related to the agenda of the meeting, submitted directly to the meeting. Category III documents will not be assigned any symbol, but may be listed on the official web-site if submitted to the ECE Secretariat before 1 May 2005. Neither the secretariat nor the host country will be responsible for translating or copying Category III documents. Those delegations that wish to make such documents available electronically should submit them to the secretariat in pdf or Word format. These documents as well as materials for exhibition should be shipped by their proponents to Almaty and reach the venue at least two weeks before the meeting.
