Executive Body special
event

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Convention,
the Executive Body held a special event at its twenty-second
session. This provided an opportunity for considering
past successes, current activities and future challenges.

- The programme
for the event included short presentations
by invited speakers and discussions with participation
from the floor. Presentations are available through

- Four press
conferences were held during the session.
- An assessment
report by EMEP and a substantive
report by the Working Group on Effects (PDF file)
present the current status and trends of air pollution
and its effects.
- "Clearing the air - 25 years of the Convention
on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution". This
book, an initiative of the Netherlands, is available
from the secretariat.
- A new brochure for the Convention. Prepared
and printed by the Canadian Government, it is
available in English, French or Russian from the
secretariat.
- The 2004 Convention Handbook.
This provides up-to-date texts for the Convention
and its protocols, as well as Ministerial Declarations,
important decisions taken by the Executive Body
and information on the current structure of the
Convention and the status of its protocols. Copies
are available from the secretariat.
- Ministerial
statements of congratulations.
- Computer
games that test knowledge of air pollution
and the work of the Convention.
- A chidren's design
competition was organized with one of Geneva's
schools.
