In pursuance of the decisions by Ministers at Sofia, the UN/ECE Committee
on Environmental Policy, at its session in March 1998, approved the submission
of an EPE assessment report to the Conference. The report presented the
results of the work on priority EPE issues, as included by the Committee
in its work programme, and provided information on the progress made in
the activities under the auspices of UN/ECE which were of direct relevance
to specific EPE recommendations. (English,
