The fourth meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on ESD took place in Geneva from 19 to 20 February 2009. The main objectives of the meeting were to: (i) consider the progress by countries in the implementation of the Strategy for ESD since the last meeting of the Committee, including the state-of-art in the development and implementation of the National Action Plans for ESD; (ii) consider the progress of work of the Expert Group on Indicators for ESD, including their proposal for establishing an Expert Group on competence in ESD; (iii) consider the state-of-art in addressing the issue of sustainable consumption and production through education for sustainable development; (iv) consider the input from the UNECE region into the upcoming UNESCO World Conference on ESD; and (v) consider the proposed mechanism to strengthen coordination of activities among ESD partners in the region. The Bureau of the Steering Committee prepared the meeting through consultations by e-mail. For more information about the meeting please see the documents in the table below.
