The main theme of the reform is the integration. We are convinced with the good results of the integrated approach in the education and training as a hole as well as in the education for sustainable development. Bulgaria has already planned and organized the training process as a hole and particularly the education for sustainable development within the framework of the Reform, based upon the European good practices and integrated approach. Formal primary and secondary education has a key role in realization of ESD, which cultivates knowledge, skills, relationships and values as main prerequisites for new understanding and attitude towards the environment. The problems of Environmental Education, putting emphasis on the ecological laws that rule the ecological balance and guarantee the healthy way of life, as well as on human and social responsibilities for abiding these laws; the problems of ESD, emphasizing on life itself, in relationship between nature and culture; the problems of Nature Protection Education, focusing on conserving the natural environment, though not introduced as a separate subject in Bulgarian school curricula is compulsory studied through integrated themes in different relevant subjects at all school levels grades Ist to VIst represented through Man and Society, Man and Nature, World Studies; in secondary education the ESD issues are differentiated in Biology and Health Education, Chemistry and Environment, Geography and Economics, Physics and Astronomy, Philosophy and Democratic Citizenship. Another illustration of the above mentioned are the State Educational Requirements that cover all basic themes and are oriented towards setting knowledge and developing students` skills and competences in the related to ESD. Within them the teacher is free to put the accent upon the education for sustainable development or to turn it into the main theme of the educational program. In vocational education the possibilities for ESD also have several aspects and depending on the specific activities in various professions a compulsory content is included, which cultivates knowledge and skills for protecting environment and discusses the ways for reducing the harmful effects of technological processes on air, water, soil, human life and health. A broad spectrum of opportunities has been assured as an extracurricular and out-of-school activities. Thus a flexible framework is provided for each separate school to adapt EDS issues to its own priorities, specific needs and circumstances. Taking into consideration the UN General Assembly decision to declare ESD Decade 2005-2015 as well as all framework and strategic international documents concerning ESD Bulgaria has developed a Program to support the ESD. This Program is a good example of collaboration between Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Environment and Water and strong team of NGOs. Its meant to facilitate the application of the basic tips and guidelines taken from the UNECE ESD Strategy and is based on the shared experience of a number of documents of the UN, UNESCO and the Council of Europe. As far as the UNECE strategy and its dissemination it has already been translated as a draft version and we are in a process of preparing the final version. pq7 G W a 6mHsH5\CJaJmH nH uCJ5Zpq = $a$$a$$dha$ 1h/ =!"#$% i8@8 NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH 6`6 Heading 1$$@&a$5` Heading 2$$ ƃ+P !$`'0*-/2p5@8;=@CPF IKNQ`T0WZ\_pb@ehjmpPs vdh5$7$8$9D@&H$a$6aJmHnHu<A@< Default Paragraph Font@O@ Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJZpq= 0000000000000000 0 Z ] 333 e.kostadinova BehlyarovaOG:\Enhs\SD Education\Regional Activities\Workshops\SEE\Intervantions\Bulgaria.1_f(h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h pLp^p`LhH.h @ @ ^@ `hH.h ^`hH.h L^`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h PLP^P`LhH._ @T @@UnknownGz Times New Roman5Symbol3& z Arial5& z!Tahoma"qh{cƓr& !20 3qHXQEducation for Sustainable Development in the Primary and Common Education Systems d.panayotova BehlyarovaOh+'0 ,8H \h REducation for Sustainable Development in the Primary and Common Education SystemsPduc d.panayotova Su.pa.paNormalo Behlyarovaa31lMicrosoft Word 9.0i@N*@ٱw(@CB'@Zd ՜.+,D՜.+,|8 hp| mon REducation for Sustainable Development in the Primary and Common Education Systems Title(8_AdHocReviewCycleID_EmailSubject _AuthorEmail_AuthorEmailDisplayName%statement at the Workshop in Athens.the#e.kostadinova@minedu.government.bg.e.kostadinovami !"#$%&)Root Entry FLd+1TableWordDocument"SummaryInformation(DocumentSummaryInformation8CompObjjObjectPoolLdLd FMicrosoft Word Document MSWordDocWord.Document.89q
