Launch event of the 2nd EPR of Ukraine
The joint event was organized by the UNECE and UNEP secretariats with the support of the OSCE Kiev office, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine. The meeting was opened by Deputy Minister Ivan Makarenko. Over 120 people were present, including Government officials, members of Verkhovna Rada, NGO representatives, business people, university professors and researchers, representatives of international organizations, and media reporters. The importance of the event and of the publications launched there was confirmed by the lively discussions on virtually every topic on the agenda. The event has been covered on several national TV channels, UN Radio and in a number of Ukrainian newspapers. A similar event focusing on the specific problems of the Donetsk oblasts, took place at the regional State Department of Environmental Protection where it also raised much interest. 2nd EPR of Ukraine is available in English
