The 2nd EPR of Georgia has just started

In May 2009, the secretariat went to Tbilisi to initiate the second review of Georgia and define the content of the second review together with the national environmental authorities. Mr. Khachidze, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and his staff had organized a series of meetings with experts and decision-makers of the Ministry and of many other ministries, in particular in the domains of environment, energy, agriculture, water, land management and protection, economy, etc. The structure of the report has been submitted to Georgia for their comments. The work will continue in 2009-2010.

The 2nd EPR of Uzbekistan has continued

In March 2009, the secretariat went to Tashkent to carry out the second review of Uzbekistan. Mr Alikhonov, Chairman of the State Committee for Nature Protection, and his staff had organized a series of meetings with experts and decision-makers of the State Committee and of many other ministries, in particular in the domains of environment, energy, agriculture, water, land management and protection, economy, etc. A draft report will be issued in English and Russian to be examined y the Expert Group on Environmental Performance on 19 October 2009, and peer-reviewed and adopted by the Committee on Environmental Policy on 20 October 2009 in the presence of high-level officials from State Committee for Nature Protection of Uzbekistan.

2nd EPR of Kyrgyzstan is going on...…

Started in February 2008, the 2 nd EPR of Kyrgyzstan developed during 2008 with a main investigation mission taking place from 26 May to 5 June. The draft report in English and Russian was examined by the Expert Group on Environmental Performance on 26 January 2009, and peer-reviewed and adopted by the Committee on Environmental Policy on 29 January (see more details in the press release English, Russian). The report in two languages will be lanched in autumn 2009.

A series of launch events of the 2nd EPR of Kazakhstan took place in Astana and Almaty from 22 to 24 October 2008. The report in the three languages was launched at a round table organized by the Committee on Agrarian Issues and Environmental Protection at the Senate, in the presence of high level officials of which several ministers, on 22 October 2008. Two other launch events with the international Community in Astana and with NGOs and the private sector in Almaty took place respectively on 23 and 24 October 2008.
