The Committee held its sixteenth session in Geneva (Palais des Nations, salle XI) from 20 to 23 October 2009. The main objectives of the session were to review the programme of work for 2009 and to agree on a programme of work for 2010-2011, as well as to commence the preparations for the Seventh Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe", to be held in Astana (Kazakhstan) in 2011, including to decide on not more than two themes for the Conference's agenda.
