The Committee held its eighteenth annual session in Geneva from 17 to 20 April 2012.
The main objectives of the session were to: (a) consider the follow-up to the Astana Ministerial Conference and preparation of the "Environment for Europe" mid-term review; (b) review the environmental performance of Turkmenistan, Albania and Romania; (c) decide on the work related to environmental monitoring, assessment and reporting; (d) consider strengthening of capacity for implementation of UNECE multilateral environmental agreements and their application to support a green economy, as well as a number of cross-cutting activities; and (e) decide on the programme of work for 2012-2013 of the Environment subprogramme.

!!! The meeting aims to be a paperless event to the extent possible. Participants are encouraged to download the documents in electronic format and, if necessary, print them. All documents for the meeting will be made available on this website. Please bring your laptops for working at the meeting. Kindly note that electrical power plugs and sockets are unique to Switzerland within the UNECE region (type J, three-pin, 230 V, 50 Hz), and respectively require an adaptor, though slim two-pin plugs (type C) will fit. !!!

All delegates attending the eighteenth session are requested to complete the registration form and to transmit it to the UNECE secretariat preferably before 5 March 2012 and no later than 30 March 2012 by e-mail (efe@unece.org). On their way to the meeting, delegates should obtain an identification badge at the Pass and Identification Unit of the United Nations Office at Geneva’s Security and Safety Section, located at the Pregny Gate, 14, Avenue de la Paix (see map). It will be necessary to present your passport or identity card and the original of the registration form.
